As a longstanding partner to the U.S. government and as a pre-qualified Indefinite-Quantity Contractor (IQC) for the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) since March 2006, BCIU participates in a competitive bidding process to manage orientation visits, conferences and training programs for developing and middle-income countries. These programs focus on building capacity and opportunities for foreign investment in industries that include, among others, energy, telecommunications, water and waste management, aviation, healthcare and technology. BCIU is able to provide government agencies with turnkey services for the planning, promotion and execution of all programs, tailored precisely to the needs of the sponsoring agency.
- ConnectMEX: U.S.-Mexico Transport and Telecom Conference
Exposed participants in Mexico City to emerging export and commercial opportunities in the transportation and telecommunications sector. Included an interactive dialogue on projects to build new roads, railways, telecom infrastructure, as well as efforts as to expand and upgrade ports and airports. The event also explored financing, investment and public-private partnerships.
- Southern Africa Rail Workshop
Facilitated the development of rail-sector partnerships between the United States and Southern Africa. Held in Johannesburg, the effort exposed participants to emerging technologies, equipment and services, as well as policies, regulations and financing mechanisms to support U.S. investment in rail projects across Southern Africa.
- U.S.-India Aviation Summit
Promoted greater cooperation between U.S. and Indian aviation stakeholders. The conference convened top business and government decision makers from India and the U.S. to advance aviation development. Topics included regulatory and legal frameworks, technology, services, financing, public-private initiatives and best practices.

- Brazil Broadband Technologies Reverse Trade Mission
Introduced officials from several Brazilian states to U.S. broadband network technologies, regulations and best practices for the effective implementation, expansion and management of broadband communication networks.
- Kenya Cyber Security Reverse Trade Mission
Introduced decision makers with responsibility for information and communications technology (ICT) across several Kenyan government agencies to U.S. best practices and innovative technologies at a critical time in the growth of the country's ICT infrastructure.
- West Africa Road Map to Opportunities Conference
Promoted dialogue on the development of an information and communications technology (ICT) sector that will support West Africa's economic development. Addressed key policy issues and highlighted efforts to expand telecommunications infrastructure, improve delivery of government services and support the growth of e-commerce. Held in Accra, Ghana, the event included participants from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
- East African Community (EAC) e-Health Workshop
Convened public and private sector decision makers responsible for overseeing and delivering East African healthcare solutions. Held in Kigali, Rwanda, the event addressed policy and technology issues, as well as broadband technology approaches to improving healthcare infrastructure and delivery.
- China Healthcare Information Technology Orientation Visit
Showcased U.S. healthcare technology and services to 12 representatives from China's Ministry of Health and various hospitals.
Clean Energy and Renewables
- South Africa Renewable Energy Grid Integration Reverse Trade Mission
Fostered dialogue between ESKOM and U.S. firms to encourage the participation of U.S. companies in South Africa's electricity sector, particularly in the area of integrating intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind into South Africa's national power grid.
- China Green Port Technologies Reverse Trade Mission
Provided Chinese officials with an opportunity to witness U.S. best practices and increase their awareness of U.S. technology, equipment, services and standards to support the modernization of China's ports, inland waterways and offshore infrastructure in a manner that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
- ASEAN: Clean Energy Trade, Technology and Investment Forum
Addressed issues related to clean energy development and investment in Southeast Asia. The Manila forum convened Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) public and private sector technical specialists, industry representatives and government officials to engage in a dialogue that showcased U.S. technologies, best practices and innovations. Attendees included officials from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
- East African Community Financial Integration Reverse Trade Mission
Introduced senior banking officials from the central banks of the East African Community (EAC), the EAC Secretariat and supporting government entities to U.S. technologies and best practices for the modernization and integration of banking processes.
- Pakistan Banking Information Technology Modernization
Highlighted U.S. technologies and solutions for secure and efficient banking, particularly related to mobile and Internet banking, anti-money laundering solutions, fraud analytics and customer relationship management solutions. The public and private sector officials met with relevant U.S. banking and government organizations, U.S. commercial banks and financial institutions and banking technology providers.
- Vietnam Financial Information Management Reverse Trade Mission
Introduced senior officials from the State Bank of Vietnam to U.S. central bank operations and best practices. The delegation also learned about the information and communications technology (ICT) systems used in the management and supervision of the sector.
