Biographical Information

His Excellency Damdin Tsogtbaatar has served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia since October 2017. Additionally, he has been a Member of the Parliament of Mongolia and Chairman of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Human Rights since 2016.

Prior to this, Minister Tsogtbaatar was an Advisor for JusTs Consulting and Xillion from 2015 to 2016, as well as from 2012 to 2014. Between this, he served as the Minister for Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia. In 2012, he was both the Secretary for the Mongolian People’s Party and the Minister for Environment and Tourism of Mongolia. Minister Tsogtbaatar previously served as Advisor to the Prime Minister of Mongolia from 2011 to 2012 and as State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia from 2008 to 2011.

From 2002 to 2008, Minister Tsogtbaatar was Foreign Policy Advisor to Presidents N. Bagabandi and N. Enkhbayar. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Director of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation from 2000 to 2002 within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Additionally, he was Attaché for the Department of Foreign Trade and Cooperation from 1998 to 2000 and for Department of Asia and Africa from 1994 to 1998.

Minister Tsogtbataar earned a Master’s Degree in International Law from the Australian National University School of Law. He also has Master’s Degrees in International Relations and Political Science from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
