Biographical Information

Dimple R. Shah currently serves as Assistant Secretary for International Affairs in the Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans. In this capacity, Assistant Secretary Shah oversees the Department’s international engagement and serves as a principal advisor to the Secretary in all matters pertaining to international affairs. Assistant Secretary Shah is an attorney with more than ten years of experience in immigration law, national security, foreign affairs, and criminal law.

Prior to joining the Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans, Assistant Secretary Shah served as Deputy General Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel. She has also held the positions of Staff Director and also as Chief Counsel to the National Security Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Senior Counsel on the Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security of the House Judiciary Committee, and Legal Advisor and Assistant Chief Counsel at DHS’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Assistant Secretary Shah holds a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University and a Bachelor of Arts from American University.
