Biographical Information

Ms. Christina Sharkey is the incoming Senior Commercial Officer for the U.S. Embassy Prague; she will depart for post in August 2018.

Ms. Sharkey most recently served as Senior Policy Advisor for Europe and Eurasia. She held the position of Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate General Munich from August 2011 to July 2016. She has also promoted American commercial interests as Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy Cairo from December 2004 to July 2008 and at the U.S. Embassy Beijing from August 2002 to May 2004.

Ms. Sharkey spent October 2008 to July 2010 in San Francisco, California at the U.S. Export Assistance Center where she focused primarily on the biotechnology industry, leading the first-ever biotech trade mission to China in 2010.  She started her career in trade working as an International Trade Specialist first for U.S. Department of Commerce offices in South Asia and later for offices in North Africa and the Levant.

Ms. Sharkey holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Russian from James Madison University and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.  She speaks Czech, German, and French and has also studied Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Slovak.
