Suzanne Platt will serve as the Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Serbia for a two-year tour starting June 2018. From Belgrade, she will also facilitate Foreign Commercial Service activities with our Partnership Posts in Bosnia and Montenegro.
Since joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ms. Platt has served on the Nordic-Baltic Desk in Washington, DC. She previously worked in the pharmaceuticals sector, living in the United States and then in Serbia. During that time, she established a U.S. subsidiary, coordinated regulatory and validation projects, managed a Polish subsidiary, and re-routed sales and distribution channels for the company’s Eastern European markets. Ms. Platt has been engaged with Southeastern Europe since 2002.
Ms. Platt earned her Master of the Arts degree in European political economies from Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. She received her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, where she focused on the Balkans. She speaks Serbian, German, and Italian.
