BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Carolina Barco Isakson was appointed Ambassador of Colombia to the United States by President Alvaro Uribe in August 2006.

Prior to this position, Ambassador Barco served as the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2006. In addition, she has worked as the Director of the City Planning Department in Bogotá. Ambassador Barco has also served as an adviser to the Ministries of Development, Culture, and Environment, to the National Planning Department and to the Office of the Mayor of Bogotá. Further, she has worked as an international cooperation adviser to the United Nations Development Program.

Ambassador Barco received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Economics from Wellesly College in Massachusetts. In addition, she received a Masters of Arts degree in Business Administration and Urban and Regional Planning from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in Massachusetts and a Masters in Business Administration from the Instituto de Empresas in Madrid, Spain.
