Major General Michael Edelstein currently serves as the Defense and Armed Forces Attache at the Embassy of Israel in Washington. Previously, he led the National Ground Training Center (NTC) and the “Sinai Reserve” Division of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Major General Edelstein also served as Commander of the Gaza Strip division during Operation “Pillar of Defense” and Operation “Protective Edge,” Commander of the Battalion Commanders Course, Chief of the Infantry and Paratrooper Corps, and Commander of the “Nahal” Brigade during the Second Lebanon War. As an SOF officer, he commanded the “Duvdevan” unit, the “Tsefa” paratrooper unit, Special Air Force Units, and the “Binyamin” Territorial Brigade in the Judea and Samaria Regional Division.
Major General Edelstein holds a combined Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Business Administration from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Israel and a Master’s Degree in Resource Administration from the National Defense University.
